Our story

Shafiq Halim’s story begins in Kabul, Afghanistan, where, as a young boy, he learned the importance of hard work from a master tailor. After the Taliban took power in the late 1990s, Shafiq fled to Europe in a shipping container, eventually making his way to the United States.

In the Washington DC area, he found tailoring work, and his knowledge and craftsmanship opened new doors. Neiman Marcus hired him, promoting him to lead tailor after three years. In 2007, Bloomingdale’s offered him the role of Regional Tailoring Manager, while Wm. Fox & Co. offered him additional hours on his days off.

For 14 years, Shafiq worked two jobs, saving toward his dream of owning a shop. In 2020, he purchased Wm. Fox & Co., beginning a new chapter for the business.

His friendly manner and meticulous attention to detail remain at the heart of the experience. Every fitting is an opportunity to understand the person wearing the clothes—and to earn the trust of a client.
